I DESIGNED IT AND INSTALLED IT ON MY '60 STARLINER.
AS IT TURNED OUT THIS R & P WAS ALMOST AN
INSTANT HIT WITH YOU FORD OWNERS.

THIS CAR HAS THE STOCK 352 FE WITH THE OLD STYLE
EATON / FORD POWER STEERING PUMP WHICH WORKS
VERY WELL WITH OUR RACK & PINION SETUP.  THE LATE
MODEL FORD, SAGINAW, MAVAL, AND KRC PUMPS ALSO WORK WITH
OUR RACK & PINION CONVERSIONS.

For many classic Ford owners, a car that isn't up to today's driving characteristics can sometimes offset the joy of ownership. Some owners are known to comment that they "love their classic Ford, but can't stand the steering". This is the case with 57- 64 model year Fords. Our Conversions  put an end to the problems associated with the out dated factory worm and sector steering boxes. No more excessive play, leaking steering rams, and exhaust manifold clearance problems associated with engine swaps (even the big 460 or the newer 4.6 overhead cam engines.) There are other steering box options (i.e. GM 605) out there to be sure,  but why use a modified box of similar design when you can bolt in a modern rack and pinion with our conversion and have  the steering response that modern day automobiles have. The steering  is 3 1/2 turns lock to lock. If the rack ever needs to be replaced you can buy one at any auto parts store. You will appreciate this if you have ever had a specialty part break while you were on a trip and the only place you could get that part was from the custom shop that made it.  Our R & P mounting brackets are made from 5/16 inch steel to insure strength and eliminate any flexing in the steering system. Our goal was to make available a system that is easy to install without compromising,  modifying,  or altering any part of the stock factory frame.  We have met that goal and now offer these Rack and Pinion conversions to you!

THIS IS A TRUE BOLT- ON
APPLICATION!!

NO HEATING, CUTTING, DIMPLING, DRILLING
AND WELDING ON THE CHASSIS IS NECESSARY!!!

You can use stock 60-64 Ford spindles,
Ford Granada
or
77-79 T-Bird-Cougar
spindles & disc brake swap
with this conversion.
Other spindles may apply, so give us a call.
 

This conversion will accommodate
 Ford engines with a front sump
oil pan.  These include
292- 312, 289 - 351 W, 351C
332, 352, 390, 406, 410, 427, 428 FE
429, 460, and BOSS 429's



 Rack & Pinion Conversion

Rack & Pinion With life Time warranty,  metric to  - 6 AN hose fittings for rack &

your power steering pump, power steering hoses, frame mounting brackets,
rack & pinion U-clamps with rubber bushings, rack and pinion center take-off bracket,
 steering shaft support bracket with 3/4 inch support bearing.  Two - Borgeson U Joints,
and intermediate shaft. All Nylok nuts, bolts and washers are grade eight (8) quality.
Also includes four pages of instructions and four pages of clear color
reference pictures.

THERE ARE SOME ADVANTAGES TO THE
NEW DESIGN. DUE TO THE FACTORY BENDS
ON THE INNER TIE RODS THERE IS MORE CLEARANCE
BETWEEN THE HYDRAULIC LINES ON
THE RACK AND THE DRAG LINKS, THIS IS A BETTER
SITUATION FOR CUSTOMERS USING AN AIR RIDE
TYPE SUSPENSION OR LOWERED CARS. ALL THE TIE ROD ENDS AND
COMPONENTS ARE NOW STOCK FACTORY TYPE FORD PARTS.

THE '63 FORD PICTURED ABOVE  HAD THE RACK INSTALLED IN JULY 2008 BY YOURS TRULY.  I THOUGHT I WOULD BE
INSTALLING THE SYSTEM INSIDE A SHOP. AS  IT TURNED OUT I INSTALLED THE RACK LAYING IN THE DIRT ON A PIECE 
OF PLYWOOD . I ALSO INSTALLED  AN IDIDIT TILT COLUMN WITH THE SYSTEM. THE INSTALL TOOK ABOUT FIVE HOURS
AND INCLUDED REMOVING THE  STOCK STEERING BOX, CENTER LINK, IDLER ARM, AND STEERING COLUMN. THIS TRULY PROVES
THAT THIS SYSTEM CAN BE INSTALLED LAYING ON YOUR BACK WITH THE ENGINE IN THE CAR IN CONDITIONS THAT ARE NOT IDEAL!!!
